Exercise your democracy at The Growler Guys tomorrow (Feb. 19)

The field of Democratic presidential hopefuls is getting widdled down. Over the past months, The Growler Guys in Seattle’s Lake City neighborhood have hosted debate watching parties. Tomorrow night, February 19th is no exception. They’ll also host another debate watching party on February 25th.

“At each and every Democratic Debate we have had a robust and growing crowd that watches the debate, shares beers with their neighbors, then many participate in a moderated discussion at our big communal table afterward,” says Kelly Dole of The Growler Guys. “I like to think it brings democracy back to its ‘public house’ roots. This Wednesday, Feb 19 there is no brewery attached [to the event], but for the Tuesday, February 25th debate Aslan Brewing will join us. The candidates themselves have been invited to The Growler Guys ~ we look forward to “A Beer with Bernie/Liz/Joe, etc.””

According to The Growler Guys’ Facebook page: “Our democracy itself has roots in the local pub(lic houses), where the country’s forefathers debated, voted… and drank beer! So JOIN your neighbors and fellow citizens in this tradition, and watch the next televised Democratic debate at The Growler Guys. Yang is OUT, Bloomberg is IN — so things are getting more interesting.”

“Watch outside on the big communal table (seats 30+). The sound will be on the 9-foot projector screen, plenty of heat under and next to the table — it’s a popular spot to watch! All but one of the TVs inside have sound and closed captions on (one TV is reserved for sports).”

“This debate is being held in Las Vegas and hosted by NBC News, on the 19th of February.”
