Last week on The Taster Tray, I discussed the value of craft breweries embracing a different kind of beer distributor. That’s what Russian River Brewing did in partnering with Stoup Distro. Small, craft-focused beer distributors are popping up around the country offering an alternative to the big distributors, which are consolidating and getting even bigger, burrying their craft brands even deeper in their enormous catalogs. Ecliptic Brewing of Portland, Oregon just announced that it is partnering with Arizona Beer and Cider Company (ABC) to expand into the Arizona market. Ecliptic Brewing’s beer is currently available in Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Idaho, North Carolina, British Columbia, and Japan. The plan for Arizona is to focus primarily on the Phoenix, Flagstaff, and Tucson areas.
ABC is a craft-focused distributor aimed at featuring quality products with unique stories. The company’s motto is We Build Brands.
“Arizona Beer and Cider reached out to us directly to join their beer portfolio, said John Harris, the owner and brewmaster at Ecliptic Brewing. “After meeting with them, we saw a good fit and are launching in early 2023.”
“I have judged beer at GABF many times with one of their owners, Jason Ebel,” added Harris. “Their respect for craft beer is very evident, and I’m excited to work with them.”
The addition of Ecliptic Brewing’s second brewery and taproom last November (The Moon Room) allowed the the brewery to consider expanding to new territories, like Ariozona.
Ecliptic Brewing will launch in the Arizona market with a variety of beers, including the company’s flagship beer, Ecliptic Starburst IPA. The launch will also include Phaser Hazy IPA, LIGO West Coast IPA, Pyxis Pilsner, and Tucana Tangerine Sour Ale.
The Arizona launch will also include a visit from John Harris in mid-February. Visit Ecliptic’s website and Facebook page for up-to-date details on potential release events.
