Burdick Brewery: Bad News & Good News

The bad news from Burdick Brewery is that it is closing its doors. The good news, it is upgrading to a 7-barrel brewhouse and installing some 15-barrel fermenters so it can finally produce enough beer to meet demand and grow. Until now, the brewery struggled to keep up, brewing on a one-barrel system.

Burdick Brewery invites everyone to visit its South Park tasting room this Thursday, August 1st through Saturday, August 2nd. Thereafter, it will close down for several months as it scales up and dials in the new system. The process could take six months or longer, but fixed schedules for these kinds of projects often prove unrealistic and flexible.

Everyone is invited to the tasting room this weekend to help rid Burdick Brewery of its existing inventory. Also, Saturday they’ll host a waffle breakfast. Yes, they do tasty waffles along with beer, in case you were unaware. It’s a pop-up coffee shop thing.

“I want to thank everyone that came by over the last seven to ten months and supported us,” said Max Leinbach, owner at Burdick Brewing. “We brewed a few great beers, some average beers, and a few where the recipes hit the trash can very quickly. It was a vital time for us to always mess around with styles as we knew our time brewing on a one-barrel system was limited. Thanks for allowing us to be experimental, and thanks for coming back as often as you did.”

“I’m really excited for our next phase as it’s been my dream for the last six years to put great beer in a great looking can,” said Max. “We anticipate a six to eight month hiatus before the beer starts flowing again. We will still be hosting some events at our space so keep up with us on social media and check in to our website now and again. Look forward to seeing everyone who supported us and look forward to clinking beer glasses filled with IPA’s and Pale Ale’s from our new system.”

  1. Just want to mention a quick correction: Thursday will be July 31st, not August 1st as stated in the article. Thanks for reporting on this. I will definitely be sure to make it down there this weekend!
