We are looking forward to a day when we don’t have to write a post like this. A day when medical conditions don’t require charitable contributions. But since that day hasn’t come, we are writing to ask your help for one of our beery brethren.
If you love Portland beer like we do, you probably follow one of our fellow beer bloggers, Brewpublic. You may or may not have heard, but Brewpublic’s founder Angelo is suffering from an inoperable brain tumor. Adding to the pain, he is uninsured and now is buried in $200,000+ in medical bills from the related hospitalization, testing and treatment.
The Portland beer community has stepped up big time, and this Sunday, November 24th the Washington beer community is officially invited to join in a big fundraising beer event for Angelo. Short notice to plan a PDX trip, we know, but there’s also an opportunity to help from afar — a ticket raffle to win prizes like rare bottles of Cascade Jongleur ’07. You can also simply donate to the cause and help a fellow beer lover and advocate. Or you can plan that last-minute trip out of town to join the cause in person. If you call in sick on Monday, we won’t tell.

Nov. 24th, 5-9pm, Bad Habit Room: You don’t have to know him or be a fan of his awesome beer blog Brewpublic.com, you just have to come thirsty and with an open heart and the knowledge that you’ve helped a person in need. It is going to be a night of good vibes, great beers and charitable contributions to one of Portland’s biggest beer evangelists.
Here’s how you can be a part of the evening – 100% of all below proceeds go to Angelo’s hospital bills: – Show up & drink (bring growlers too)! – Participate in the insane silent auction (7:30 & 8:30pm end times). – Buy a ticket to try two extremely rare Cascade beers donated by Cascade’s Preston Weesner. Only a few tickets left.
