Bellingham’s Kulshan Brewing celebrates its first decade

The first in a series of anniversary beers from Kulshan Brewing.

Congratulations to Kulshan Brewing for reaching the ten-year mark. In 2012 we told you about Kulshan Brewing for the first time (read it), which had just opened and at the time was Bellingham’s third brewery. These days it’s hard to imagine the town only having three breweries. Kulshan Brewing itself has two locations, plus a seasonal pop-up beer garden.

Kulshan Brewing just released the first in a series of 10th-anniversary beers. More details about that beer are below. Also, a fireside chat with Dave Vitt who founded the brewery. Stay tuned to Kulshan Brewing’s social media channels for more anniversary-related news as the year unfolds. Here’s the scoop from the brewery’s latest newsletter.

WE’RE TURNING 10 THIS YEAR!

We’ve accomplished a lot in the last decade, and in celebration we bring you this three part anniversary series. We love brewing beer for all you wonderful humans and we don’t intend to stop any time soon!

The first beer in our 10 year anniversary series, James Street IPA is a classic West Coast IPA. Slightly biting hop bitterness blends with smooth bready malt notes, and is accented by big citrus hop character, along with floral and orchard fruit accents. Balanced and playful this beer pays tribute to Bastard Kat; the beer that has played such a defining role in the success and growth of this brewery. 7% ABV // 70 IBU
