Snipes Mountain Brewing Unleashes Terror on the Beer Market

(See list of events below for dates and places.) Next week Snipes Mountain Brewing releases bottles of some special beers at a series of events around the Seattle-Tacoma area. The brewery is releasing two variations of Terror, as well as its Roza Barleywine. All in 22-ounce bottles. Terror is described as a “French Provincial Stout” from Snipes Mountain Brewing.

The two versions of Terror involved:

2012 Terror – 13 different malts of 5 grains, with Summit, Palisade and Strisslespalt hops then fermented with French Saison yeast. Finishing additions of molasses, local honey, apples and blackberries.

2013 Terror – 17 different malts of 5 grains, with Summit, Palisade and Hersbrucker hops then fermented with French Saison yeast. Finishing additions of molasses, pears and blueberries.

Terror From the Woods is the 2012 version of the beer, aged in Syrah and Cab Sauv barrels from Gilber Cellars and then blended 60/40 with the minority being the straight 2013 Terror.  NOTE: This beer is also getting poured at Saturday’s BelgianFest.

The second version is Terror in the Rye, which is the 2013 Terror aged in Rittenhouse Rye Whiskey barrels and blended 75/25, with the minority being fresh 2013 Terror.

The brewery is also releasing bottles of its Roza Barleywine. This is the first time in seven years that Snipes Mountain has brewed Roza. This version was aged in Rittenhouse barrels.

“Terror, being one of my favorite personal creations, I am quite anxious about how it will be received,” says Chad Roberts, head brewer at Snipes Mountain Brewing. “Very little of it has ever been released into the market at large. Most of it went into barrels as soon as it was finished. With all of it’s varied ingredients, it’s a unique beer, but is a great palette upon which to showcase various barrels.”
