A beer to benefit live music and musicians, from Best of Hands

Four new beers about to drop at Best of Hands Barrelhouse

Trust me, Best of Hands Barrelhouse does not brew IPA exclusively. They brew a lot of different stuff, but this month it’s all about IPA as the brewery prepares to release four different IPAs in 16-oz cans. All four of the beers release on Wednesday, June 16th at the brewery and taproom in West Seattle.

Guitar geeks and other musicians, listen up. One of the beers is a collaboration project, created with Thunder Road Guitars, a kickass guitar shop in West Seattle. No Surrender IPA benefits a non-profit organization that supports musicians and nightlife.

The brewery hosts a release party for No Surrender IPA, the Thunder Road collaboration, on Friday the 18th. Representatives from Thunder Road will be at the brewery from 6:00 – 9:00 dishing out some surprises. Proceeds from No Surrender IPA benefit Washington Nightlife & Music Association (WANMA) / Keep Music Live WA.

One of the four beers is part of the statewide collaborative project spearheaded by the Washington Brewers Guild: Multiplayer Guild Collab IPA. Read about that collab project here.

Here are the descriptions of the four beers, straight from Best of Hands:

No Surrender (Collab with Thunder Road Guitars), NEIPA – 7% – Hazy IPA featuring a boat load of Strata & Sabro hops on a generous, pillowy body. Combining our mutual love for The Boss & for live music, this beer’s name is a nod to the Bruce Springsteen song of the same name. Our mission is to help the struggling independent music venues of WA state, devastated like so many industries by the pandemic. We need the arts and music more than ever. We will see them resurrected. As the song says, “no retreat baby, no surrender.”

Multiplayer Guild Collab, IPA – 7% – IPA featuring Amarillo & Idaho 7 hops. Brewed in order to support the Washington Brewers Guild.

2021: A Spruce Odyssey, IPA W/ Sitka Spruce Tips – 6.5% – Featuring Sitka spruce tips, Citra, & Azacca hops for aromas of sweet tangerine, red berries, & evergreen sap with hints of tropical fruit. Juicy, lush body showcasing floral & lime-like flavors melding expertly with those of mango, peach, subtle herbal-spiciness, & cherry skins from the hops. Luscious & bittersweet on the back end with hints of orange hard candy and grapefruit rind complimenting a final spruce-resin pungency on the lingering finish.

Buckets of Metrics, DIPA – 9% – Double NEIPA Featuring Citra & HBC-586. Pungent hop dankness & loads of lush tropical fruit notes on the nose. Flavors of mango salsa with a floral-fruitiness akin to guava. Impressions of herbal-woodiness and cream enter midway before dissolving into flavors of citrus pith & pine tar. Rose-like notes of alcohol and some boozy-warmth on the long resinous finish. (Note: Yes, they see the typo on the label too.)
